As a part of 2008 China (Nanjing) Yangtze River International Tourism Festival, the 3rd International Music and Firework Festival is to be held at Binjiang Park at Hexi region at 8 pm on September 22nd. Compared with previous two festivals, this year?s is to present for the first time in history a 500-meter on-water firework galley as part of the celebration.

In terms of the amount of fireworks, the 3rd International Music and Firework Festival will use over 100,000 various kinds of fireworks, an increase of 100% than that of last year. Co-designed by the renowned Spanish firework-company that designed the ?Footprints? for the 2008 Beijing Olympics and Jianhu Firework Ltd. in China, the evening ceremony of this year?s festival is to take place on 7 platforms especially designed and manufactured for displaying fireworks. All platforms cover an area of 300 meters along the riverbank. When fully displayed, the average height of the firework galley will be up to 160 meters. Intensity of fireworks being displayed at a second can be as much as 100. According to designers of this ceremony, every ten seconds a new picture formed by fireworks will appear above the Yangtze River, while every other minute there will be a concentrated displaying of fireworks, so that audiences of the ceremony can experience the best of the art of firework in Nanjing.
