From December 10—11, the “Governmental Journalism and China International Communication International Symposium” was held in Shanghai which was co-organized by Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Nanjing University and Propaganda Department of Nanjing Municipal Party Committee. Ye Hao, Standing Member of Municipal Party Committee and Chief of Propaganda Department of Nanjing Municipal Party Committee attended and made a speech.

Topics of the symposium are around “Governmental Journalism: theory of innovation and discovery”, “Environment and Trend of China International Media” and “Capability Construction of National Communications and National Image Strategy”, etc. The symposium deeply discussed about how the government made positive communications with news Medias under current conditions so as to better bring the leading role of the government towards the public opinions into a full play. Thus, it is a harmonious communication on the basis of meeting the public’s right to know.

Zhao Qizheng, Chief of Foreign Affairs Committee of Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and Dean of School of Journalism of Renmin University of China, and Zhang Guozuo, Chief of National Philosophy and Social Science Planning Office of Propaganda Department of the CPC Central Committee sent letters of congratulations for the symposium. Over 100 national and international experts, scholars and government officials as well as executives of Medias attended the forum and made academic communications, such as David Palet, professor of Duke University of America, Doris A. Graber, professor of Illinois University of America, etc.

Representatives for the forum expressed that China’s national communication capability has been provided framework of theory and practice since the governmental journalism has made summary and extraction according to the relationship between Chinese government and Medias.
