An economic development strategy consultant and evaluation conference of Nanjing Railway Junction was held recently by Nanjing Municipal Development and Reform Commission. In the future, one hundred billion Yuan will be invested on developing Nanjing South Station area into an urban subcenter together with Xin Jie Kou and Hexi area.
Entrusted by Nanjing Municipal Development and Reform Commission, Jiangsu Urban Development Research Institute has edited and finished the “Economic Development Strategy Research of Nanjing Railway Junction”. It puts forward the future general plan of the Nanjing South Station area which has been approved by expert committee.
The Nanjing South Station is a synthetical communication junction through which people can take metro, light rail and bus, etc. 28 railways are through it since it is mainly for the railway passenger transport service of Nanjing-Shanghai express railway, Shanghai-Wuhan-Chengdu railway express passageway, Nanjing-Hangzhou intercity railway and Nanjing-Anqing intercity railway. According to measures, the number of passengers of the South Station will reach 44.13 million in 2020 and 58.22 million in 2030. The convenient traffic will bring high-density activities of the public and effectively promote the business and trade development in the South Station area.
The research report says that the following industries are most needed in the Nanjing South Station area: wholesale trade, goods display and trade, underground commerce of metro, hotels and catering, marking headquarter economy, real estate. The industries which facilitate environment best include retailing of top quality articles, underground commerce, hotels and catering, technique headquarter economy, financing service, intelligent agency service, modern logistics, real estate and entertainment industry.
What is emphasized in the report is that the area should make use of the advantage—next to the Qinhuai River to develop riverside economy and cultural innovation industry. It is an opportunity to develop catering and entertainments on water along the Qinhuai River. (Nanjing Daily) |
